Montgomery County Ohio is burdened with thousands of tax delinquent, abandoned properties. Neglected and deteriorating buildings detract from neighborhoods and cost taxpayers money. In 2009, the state of Ohio enacted legislation to expedite a tax foreclosure process so these properties could be transferred to new owners.

The Montgomery County Land Bank manages an administrative foreclosure acquisition program for eligible properties in the county, excluding lots within Dayton city limits. Properties within the city of Dayton are slated to be available through a new program administered by the Montgomery County Treasurer’s office.
All properties displayed on Monty Lots meet the first-step requirement to qualify for these acquisition programs: they are all at least 2 years delinquent on property taxes.
The data for this tool comes from the Montgomery County Treasurers Office database.
In conjunction with the release of ThinkTV’s Documentary “Redlining: Mapping Inequality in Dayton and Springfield” we’ve added the 1935 federal Home Owners’ Loan Corporation map to Monty Lots. HOLC surveyors traveled the country, using a standardized system to classify neighborhoods by their perceived level of lending risk. The highest risk areas were color-coded red, so the maps became known as “redline” maps. Monty Lots now shows the 1935 rating boundaries in relation to currently distressed properties in Montgomery County.
